Remants of hawk attack found in snow markings

On Tuesday, a photo was posted on Pineland Farms’ Facebook page showing the snow markings left behind after a red-tailed hawk attacked a field mouse.

Pineland Farms, located in New Gloucester is “a 5,000-acre working farm, diverse business campus and educational and recreational venue that welcomes visitors to enjoy its beautiful rural landscape,” according to their website.

Included with the photo was the caption:

“A glimpse into both the beauty and peril of the natural world, the snow records a brief but final encounter between a field mouse and a red-tailed hawk. Thanks to our Outdoor Operations Supervisor, Nate Wight for capturing this incredible photo on the River Loop.”
