Arnold Schwarzenegger says ‘Hasta la vista’ to homophobes

In keeping with the online trend which has followed the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling that the U.S. Constitution provides the right to marry for same-sex couples, the profile picture on the official Facebook page of Arnold Schwarzenegger was changed on Friday in celebration of the historic decision.

Since the SCOTUS ruling, millions upon millions of people have changed their online profile pictures to incorporate the colors of the LGBTQIA flag.

So just the simple fact that Schwarzenegger joined in solidarity isn’t exactly huge news, even though it’s wicked rad that the man who has been the epitome of toughness and strength for nearly half a century would embrace such sweeping, progressive change.

What is making waves on the internet, though, is the way that Schwarzenegger has chosen to respond to the inevitable backlash from the hate filled homophobia crowd.

To anyone who decides to unfollow his page because of his support for equality, Schwarzenegger has a simple response, which quotes a line from his most iconic role as “The Terminator”:

“Hasta la vista.”
