Amazing video of Northern Lights on Moosehead Lake

Last Monday, Mike Taylor of Taylor Photography had news that a Northern Lights display was to take place near Moosehead Lake that night, and boy was it ever.

Taylor set up right on the edge of the lake, which is Maine’s biggest, and recorded a time-laspe video from about 10 pm to nearly 3 am:

“It ebbed and flowed through the night,” said Taylor, “this was easily the longest and most impressive aurora display we have witnessed.”

“At a few different points it was a variable rainbow of colors. All of this was being perfectly reflected in the smooth-as-glass water right in front of us.”

From Taylor Photography’s website:

“Taylor Photography is a freelance imaging studio based in a 19th century farmhouse in central Maine, owned and operated by Mike Taylor and Sonia MacNeil. Mike has been a landscape and studio photographer for over 20 combined years and counting.

Taylor Photography’s work has been featured on NASA’s Astronomy Picture Of The Day, Huffington Post, Outdoor Photography Magazine, The Weather Channel, NBC News, Viral Nova, Discovery.com, Mashable.com, Yahoo! News, Space.com, Earthsky.org, Spaceweather.com, Solarham.net, and multiple other science websites and social media pages.

Mike is also a contributing member of the International Dark-Sky Association and he has been working in conjunction with their organization to help raise public awareness of artificial light pollution and its negative effects on human health, wildlife, safety and energy waste.”
