Giant sinkhole opens on I-93 in New Hampshire

Thankfully no one was hurt, but reports are saying that traffic is backed up for miles in the Concord, New Hampshire area following an enormous sinkhole opening up on the northbound side of I-93 this afternoon.

This video from 7NEWS WHDH in Boston gives a good glimpse of the scene:

WHDH is also reporting that the sinkhole is likely the result of a culvert collapsing below the road, and that a motorist allegedly tried driving around the signs and traffic cones and onto the closed portion of the highway. Police arrested the man after determining that he was driving under the influence of alcohol, and later found that his blood alcohol levels were three times over the legal limit of .08.

As one online commenter wrote, “Live Free or Die in a Bigass Sinkhole!”
