Dog rescued after driving truck into Branch Lake

According to the Ellsworth Police Department, a dog described as a “Yorkie” sent a pickup truck into Branch Lake on Saturday afternoon.

The dog’s owner had parked his truck on a hill near the shoreline to go swimming with friends. Somehow the dog managed to hit the gear shift, and the situation quickly became frightening for all involved.

Luckily, a female friend of the dog’s owner immediately jumped to action, rushing into the lake to save the trapped pooch.

“The truck was fully submerged,” said the Ellsworth PD, “without the quick response of the family friend the man would have lost his companion. She is a hero.”

After the dog was saved, a towing company was called to the scene to remove the truck. No one was injured in the incident.
